Some Historical Facts
In 1701 the stone working factory was founded according to the regulation of the tsar Peter the Great. Since the beginning of the XIX century the factory has been producing the art pieces made of precious and semiprecious stones, conducted diamond cutting. In 1930 the ruby stars for Moscow Kremlin towers have been produced by the factory.
In 1932, on the base of that factory, the "First Watch Factory" was open. It was fit for production of precision technical stones. Since 1935 the factory was manufacturing the products for watch industry. Since 1954 “Raketa” factory has become the leading watch manufacturer in Russia. The plant produces clock mechanisms which rank among the most reliable in the world. Mechanisms produced by “Raketa” factory designed to work in extreme conditions. They have been tested under the load that impressed Swiss specialists. The unique clock mechanisms on 16 ruby stones are of high rate of precision and reliability. These mechanisms are admitted in Europe and in Japan.
In 1972 in the International Leipzig Exhibition in Germany, “Raketa” factory gained the First Place in the tuff competition with the best world watch manufactures. In 1984 “Raketa” had a success on the European Exhibition in Bulgaria. In 1994 the factory was given the International reward “Golden Globe” for production of competitive high-quality products and integration in the world’s economy. Serial “Raketa’s” clock mechanisms are being installed in the watches of companies Seiko, Omega, Orient.

Mainly “Raketa” watch factory produces such types of watches: wrist watches with a 24h dial, perpetual calendar and nice pocket watches. All the watches are uncommon Russian souvenirs or Russian gifts.
The model with 24h dial is a necessity for submariners, miners, polar explorers, and space travellers, who needs to know whether it's day or night.

Movement
Fully mechanical movement with day, date and calendar function. Calendar adjusted using second crown at 4 o'clock position.
Case and Dial
Chrome plated metal, approx. 38mm dia. Dial with day and month indication (in Cyrillic). This watch has calendar up to 2012. Unique watch.
The version with perpetual calendar allows (on the post-1991 models) to know the day of the week until the 2012!
Setting the Perpetual Calendar
The calendar is set by revolving the bottom display with the setting crown. The years, from 1992 through to 2012 are set to align below the corresponding month in the printed table above the year window.
In the bottom close-up (above), you will see that the year 1998 is aligned with the "JUN" (June) marking. In the upper day display (above), the calendar can be read by finding the day of the week, for example "MON" (Monday), and then reading the dates in the printed table below the day display. As you can see, there is a choice of dates of 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29. So, it is currently one of those days in June 1998.
“Raketa” watch factory produces nice pocket watches, also. Their dials are decorated with famous historical Russian insignias.

Another particular Raketa, the Braille watch for blind people: the glass can be opened to touch the hands and know the time. It's the only Raketa watch from the past production that is still today produced.

The movement, called "2809" has 19 jewels, manual winding, with indication of the day of the month and week.
MAIN RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CAREFUL HANDLING
Operating conditions
Temperature from 0 to 40 Celsius degrees, relative humidity from 30% to 80%. Wind up watches at the same time to a full spring. Protect watches from the incidence, the shock, strong magnetic field, action of moisture and chemical products.
Recommended
Not less than once 3 years to carry out cleaning, lubrication and adjustment of watches in the watch repair.
